Birmingham’s Parkside District
Birmingham’s Parkside District located in southside has seen a resurgence over the last few years due to the creation of Railroad Park and Regions Field.
With UAB and Children’s Hospital’s presence just south of this area, this area continues to grow while local amenities like Good People Brewing and the Negro Southern League Museum continue to attract residents and visitors to the area. We believe that Parkside’s growth plays an important role in downtown Birmingham’s revitalization and we look forward to contributing to that growth.
Orchestra Partners, in partnership with Alabama Power Company and Tom Leader Studio, has designed a plan to enhance walkability and create a district which stitches back connections from all over the city.
This project includes Urban Supply with historic preservation and mixed-use redevelopment plans set to bring +100,000 square-feet of retail, restaurant and commercial space adjacent to Regions Field, Railroad Park, and within walking distance of UAB.
A dynamic entertainment venue will also be set within the Powell Avenue steam plant that dates to the earliest days of Birmingham. Our goal is to craft a place that brings people together in an environment that pays tribute to the region’s rich industrial past, yet is also fresh, vibrant and new.
Alabama Power and Orchestra Partners share a vision for the Powell Steam Plant and surrounding blocks. It will become an entertainment hub that attracts locals and visitors to Parkside around the clock and throughout the year. With Alamo Drafthouse Cinema set to become the anchor tenant, we have taken the crucial first step to realizing this vision.
The multi-block master plan will bring new retail, dining, entertainment, and hospitality concepts that will generate millions of dollars of revenue and hundreds of new jobs in the Magic City in the coming decade.
Urban Supply’s mixed-use property is designed to accommodate +/- 100,000 square feet of commercial space adjacent to the already popular Good People Brewing Company. Historic warehouses will be renovated into throughly modern environments.
Restaurant concepts alongside fitness, fashion, and outdoor retailers will serve nearby residents, UAB students, downtown professionals seeking an urban shopping experience where open areas, study spots, art installations and green spaces bring us together.
You’ll find current custom condominiums with private roof decks, gardens, and patios, designed by them.
Current residents enjoy amazing amenities, nightlife, and amenities in their own backyard, like Railroad Park, The Fennec, and fabulous restaurants.
The building will also feature ground floor retail.
